Do you have extra pet items?

A lot of animal shelters (at least in my area) depend on donations to help care for the animals.  Keep in mind that with the economy the way it is some people have to make a choice, care for a pet or care for their family.  These pets are not all given up because they are not wanted, and they deserve to be cared about.

I have borrowed a list from a local Humane Society of items that they are in need of, I would think that this list would go for most shelters.

  • Clay cat litter

  • Chew bones

  • Treats

  • Purina Dog Chow

  • Purina Puppy Chow

  • Purina Cat Chow

  • Purina Kitten Chow

  • High efficiency laundry soap

  • Bleach

  • Dish soap

  • Paper towels

  • Glass cleaner

  • Heavy duty garbage bags

I love finding pet products for free or close to it and taking them to the dogs and cats!  It makes my heart feel good and it isn't taking anything away from my family.  Another way you may be able to help your local shelter is by calling and seeing if they take old electronics (i.e. cell phones, laptops, mp3 players, gps, handheld games, digital cameras and ink jet cartridges - in any condition), some have programs that pays them for the items!  I am fortunate to have two dogs myself, and when I walk into a shelter or pet shop I wish I could save them all!

If you are looking to adopt a pet I urge you to check out Petango.com or Petfinder.com
